Plan Your Day! Daily Planner Printable, From Your Good Day Doula!

Don’t you love those days when you know what to expect, and your plan comes to life just as you wanted? Those days feel great! We also know how it feels when you don’t know what to do next, and you are overwhelmed before you even begin! These feelings can happen for anyone, at anytime.

As doulas, we often hear from our clients how pregnancy feels overwhelming, as there are so many changes and variables. There are the unknowns about what is happening to your body, what will happen during labor, when it all will happen, just to name a few. When you can sit down and talk your unknowns and worries through with us, as your doulas, you can feel better prepared and calm about your upcoming birth.

Do you want to feel prepared in general as you navigate through the easy days as well as the hard ones? Pregnant or not, all of us can benefit from a different approach to planning our day, why not give it a try? Feeling on top of your schedule can make a positive change in your life!

Here’s what you can do different this week, and see how it works for YOU:

1. At the start of your day, or even the night before, pick three things you know you MUST get done, and write them down.

2. Plan time for these things into your schedule.

3. Do all of the things, or do your best to do what you can! We all know things happen, and priorities change often. It is ok to rearrange and change your priorities mid-day!

4. Make note of how you feel at the end of the day. What was memorable, what do you want to remember about this special day? Did you accomplish your goals, and how did that make you feel? What else do you plan for your week?

We’ve made it simple for you to try this technique out for yourself!

Do You Want to Know How to Make an Omelette?

Do you want to know how to make an omelette? Just ask your child.

I did. What happened was priceless.

Mom, we need eggs.

How many eggs?

17.

Wow, that is alot of eggs. We only have four more. Will that work?

Yep Mom, I’ll use two.

Ok, here you go. Now, what’s next?

Opening the eggs, Mom. Cracking them open….

Handing over the eggs to my three year old is a bit scary, but watching him carefully hold the egg, gently tapping it on the edge of the bowl as he has watched me a hundred times before is reassuring. He is really paying attention and learning to do just what I do. He does it slowly, and takes his time. And I’ve never given him a lesson, or even stopped to talk him through my actions. I just do it without thinking about it.

Most mornings he joins me as I am cooking in the kitchen. We talk about the day, his dreams from the night before. I’m usually so preoccupied with the practical side of making breakfast that I am not giving him much eye contact, simply listening and nodding my head and asking him questions about what he wants to do for the day.

However, he is watching me. My every move. He is learning. Absorbing. Even as I do such a simple task as crack an egg. I’ve never given it a second thought. I just do it. Sometimes I even have to dig out a small piece of shell that slips through (and I do this with another larger piece of the egg shell as I learned from Martha many years ago).

He manages to crack two of the eggs without any help, and tells me how pretty the yolks are. His favorite color. He says he wants to stir them up, and I ask him to find the tool he wants to use.

He asks me for the whipper, and I know just what he wants. I hand him the whisk and am thankful for these precious moments in our kitchen together, with the sun shining brightly in as we begin yet another day together.
